Social Class

This scene is talking about how a young 14 year old boy was getting brainwashed to go into war. He was told that if he was lucky enough to die in war he would go to heaven with a golden key. This shows how people in the lower class believe the things they tell them because they get promised, food, clothes, women, etc. Since they don't have much, the boys think its a good deal. its not right to be lied to. They may be poor but there life is still important.

• Sending poor kids to war
• Not being able to date someone that is not in your social class
• Getting discriminated by the material things you have
• Receiving a golden key for a young mans life shows how poor people did not matter

Discrimination


This scene is actually talking about the social class problem in Iraq. People who are in the different social class can't be together. Like what Marjane said" But is it her fault that she was born where she was born?" It is not fair to segregate people by using social class. As no one can choose where they from, we can't judge people only because of the social class.

• Not being about to date someone because they are not in your social class
• Getting looked down upon because of the material things
• The maid doesn't eat in the same table because they say it is not where they belong

The Veils

Women would have because according in Iran showing your hair was to seductive for guys. I think that is not far because they are not walking around naked its only hair. In this picture it shows how some women agreed to wear the veils and some that protested against them.

• Pg74. "They insulted me, they said that women like me should be pushed up against a wall and fucked. And than thrown in the garage."
• pg 75. "Look at her! Last year she was wearing a miniskirt, showing her beefy thighs to the whole neighborhood.
